Exploring the Elements: A Journey through Land, Air, and Water
I'm beyond excited to share with you what I've been up to in my studio over the past few months. It's been a whirlwind of creativity and inspiration, and I can't wait to take you on a journey through my latest collection of paintings.
Nature has always been my inspiration, so it's no surprise that my newest collection revolves around the three foundational elements of our Earth: land, air, and water.
Walks in nature are the beginning of my artistic process. It's during these moments that I notice the subtle interplay of shapes, the contrasting colours and the ethereal atmosphere that envelopes my surroundings. As I delve into each element, I find myself breaking down the landscapes I've encountered into their most essential forms. It's like peeling back the layers of a story, revealing its core essence.
Land
With my land paintings, my focus shifts to the interplay between light and the land. Have you ever noticed how the gentle touch of moonlight can transform a plain field into a realm of mystery and intrigue? These paintings capture that enchantment, inviting you to lose yourself in their depth and mystery.
Air
In the air paintings imagine immersing yourself in a dreamscape of clouds. My fascination with cloud formations took an unexpected turn when I discovered that the very man who gave them their names, Luke Howard, once lived in the same village I now call home. Through these paintings, I aim to envelop you in the same sense of wonder that clouds evoke.
Water
Last but not least, we dive into the realm of water. But don't think of these paintings merely as bodies of water; this is a tribute to the fluidity of existence. From the tranquil sea to ethereal fog and mist, water wears many forms, each one a reflection of its ever-shifting nature. These paintings embrace abstraction, inviting you to explore the depths of your own interpretation and emotions.
So there you have it, a glimpse into my latest collection. I've poured my love for nature, my fascination with light and colour into every brushstroke. I invite you to join me on this artistic journey through land, air, and water by viewing the full collection of paintings which will be launched at Totally Biblical Gallery in a solo exhibition of my work which opens on the 23rd of September.
I will be there to celebrate the opening of the exhibition. Join me for drinks, plus an opportunity to be the first to see the complete collection and to speak in person. Please get in touch if you would be interested in attending.
Elemental opens on Saturday 23rd September at Totally Biblical Gallery, Redbrick Mill, Batley, West Yorkshire, WF17 6JF and continues until the 8th October 2023.
