Spring in the studio
Over the past month my time in the studio has been divided between preparing artworks for upcoming exhibitions and the exploration of new beginings of a collection of work.
Now that the process of varnishing and trips to and from the framers is complete and the exhibition paintings have been or are ready to be delivered, I’m able to completely immerse myself in the enjoyable process of creating new works.
The lighter, brighter evenings now mean that I can extend my studio hours. It also means that I am able to get out into the landscape for longer too. Already this year I’ve taken trips out to the coast and moors of Yorkshire and found myself replicating in paint the the deep indigos and russet browns that I’ve witnessed whilst out walking.
In these new paintings I hope to recreate the emotional pull of nature that I experience whilst out in the landscape. They offer a sense of wonder through the interplay between light and shadow, paintings of places to get lost in and remember.
The finished paintings range between 20cm square at the smallest right up to 1m and will be released later this Spring. If you’d like to be notified of their release please feel free to sign up to my newsletter below or watch out for further updates here on my website.
